A mud guard offers effective protection against mud and dirt. A mud guard that is permanently attached is recommended for everyday; it is mounted close to the wheel. However, a clamp-on mud guard is recommended for mountain bikes which can be quickly and easily attached and removed.

Good tyre clearance is particularly important on mountain bikes, which is why a mud guard that does not hug the wheel should be used. So you can defy any weather!
